Food technology entrepreneur Josh Tetrick took out a full-page ad slamming Donald Trump in the New York Times and the Cleveland Plain-Dealer, the paper in the city that is holding the Republican National Convention.

"Your campaign doesn't just seem wrong. It feels un-American," the ad says. "Americans are frustrated and angry and scared. You've channeled this into your nomination."

In an interview with CNN Money, Tetrick said, "His campaign doesn't reflect basic American values."

The entrepreneur is the founder of Hampton Creek, a tech company that makes egg-free mayonnaise called Just Mayo, and is working on replacements for animal products with plant proteins, according to Forbes

Tetrick said that he believes many people can take stances that appear to be counter to many of Trump's positions.

"You should respect women. Immigrants make this country better. We should be civil to each other. The KKK is a group that is the personification of evil. There are these basic things that we don't need to argue about," Tetrick said in the CNN Money report.

The full ad is posted at Dear-Donald.org

Tetrick told CNN Money that the phone number in the ad is his real number, and he has received more than 600 voice mails. He said he gets 10 texts a minute from strangers around the country, praising his letter. He said "lots and lots of Republicans" have been among the callers.

As to the reason he bought the ad, "I just had to get this out of my head so I could sleep better. It's too important."

Other leaders in the technology sector have done the same, with 145 writing a letter about Trump's candidacy, saying "Trump would be a disaster for innovation."
