One Nation, a group aligned with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., is scrapping an ad blitz targeting Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., Politico is reporting.
The conservative group canceled hundreds of thousands of dollars in TV and radio ads in West Virginia on Thursday, the website said. In all, the group had planned to spend $750,000 portraying Manchin as weak on immigration, according to Politico.
"We are always making adjustments to where and when we are deploying our resources," One Nation spokesman Chris Pack said. "There's no major shift in strategic direction."
The advertising was scheduled to run through July 26 in West Virginia, a source told Politico.
One Nation has been expected to run ads in five Senate battleground states – West Virginia, North Dakota, Nevada, Indiana, and Arizona. It is still expected to proceed with ads in the other four states, Politico said.
Manchin has been considered one of the key Democratic votes in the battle over President Donald Trump’s nomination of Brett Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court.
While saying Kavanaugh has "all the right qualities," Manchin has stressed he has not made a decision on whether to support him.
