A group of "rebellious" House Democrats are urging Rep. Joe Crowley of New York to challenge Nancy Pelosi for minority leader, Politico reports.
Crowley, who is now running for the position of Democratic Caucus chairman, had no comment on a possible Pelosi challenge, the political news website said.
"Crowley, 54, almost certainly would not be able to beat Pelosi … but if he ran against her, it would be a blow …," Politico said.
The Democratic rebels, including Rep. Seth Moulton of Massachusetts, have been "secretly seeking to convince Crowley or someone" else to take on Pelosi, Democratic insiders told Politico.
Another name being tossed into the political hopper is Rep. Tim Ryan of Ohio, who reportedly plans to announce whether he's in or out on Thursday.
Pelosi has been under pressure since Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton lost to Donald Trump last week.
