President Joe Biden said Tuesday he was "fine" with former President Donald Trump remaining on the 2024 election ballot.
Officials in dozens of states are trying to get Trump, the current clear front-runner for the Republican presidential nomination, banned from their election ballots.
Biden, while leaving the White House for a trip to Florida, was asked whether Trump should be allowed on the ballot.
"As far as I'm concerned, that's fine," he said, Bloomberg's Josh Wingrove posted on X.
Trump and Biden in November are expected to meet in a rematch of the 2020 election.
Biden was scheduled to spend Tuesday raising money in Florida, a onetime swing state that has since become a Republican stronghold and Trump's home turf.
Hawaii last week became the latest state to try to ban Trump from the ballot. Democrat state Sen. Karl Rhoads introduced the bill, USA Today reported.
The Supreme Court is expected to consider whether a candidate for the presidency may be removed from the ballot.
The justices will hear arguments Feb. 8 in Trump v. Anderson, a case in which the Colorado Supreme Court already has ruled that Trump is disqualified from office under Section 3 of the 14th Amendment because he incited and "engaged in insurrection on January 6, 2021, after swearing an oath as President to support the U.S. Constitution," The Hill reported.
