Former FBI Director James Comey is expected to skip a Senate Intelligence Committee review of the intelligence community's findings about Russian meddling in the 2016 elections, ABC News is reporting.

Comey was one of four former intelligence community leaders invited to attend Wednesday's close-door hearing and testify about an analysis of Russian election interference compiled during the Obama administration, according to the network news.

The analysis concluded Russia targeted Hillary Clinton, while favoring Donald Trump's candidacy.

Former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper, former CIA Director John Brennan and former National Security Agency Director Admiral Mike Rogers are expected at the hearing, ABC News reported.

The network news attributed its information on Comey's apparent decision to take a pass on the committee's invitation to an unnamed committee aide. A representative for Comey did not respond to a request for comment.

Comey last month dismissed a House Intelligence Committee report that found no collusion between Russia and the Trump campaign.

Comey had said on NBC's "Meet the Press" that he considers the report, issued by Republicans, to be a "political document." He maintained that the most important investigation is being done by special counsel Robert Mueller.

Meanwhile, ABC News noted Rep. Mike Conaway, R-Texas, who oversaw the House committee's Russia investigation, has said the Republican majority on the panel disputed the intelligence community's determination that Russian President Vladimir Putin "developed a clear preference" for Trump over Clinton, arguing that the claim was not properly supported.
