Comey: Independent FBI and DOJ 'Essential to Our Liberty'

Former FBI Director James Comey is asking why leaders are not speaking up for an independent Department of Justice and FBI.

His comments came in a tweet on Wednesday.

Where are the voices of all the leaders who know an independent Department of Justice and FBI are essential to our liberty? “You are not only responsible for what you say, but also for what you do not say.” — Martin Luther

Comey's tweet followed a Twitter posting from President Donald Trump on Tuesday. The president raised the possibility of jail time for Hillary Clinton's top aide, Huma Abedin and questioned whether the Justice Department should finally take action against her, Comey and others.

Trump fired Comey from his job at the FBI last year.
