In Illinois, GOP's Brady Takes 4-Point Lead

Republican Illinois gubernatorial candidate Bill Brady is solidifying support among independent and suburban voters the Land of Lincoln and now holds a 4-point lead over Gov. Pat Quinn, a new Tribune/WGN poll shows. Brady leads Quinn 43 percent to 39 percent and is “increasingly bolstered by the results of independent voters," according to the Tribune.

Brady, who leads Quinn 47 percent to 28 percent among independents, has pledged not to raise taxes and instead cut spending by 10 percent across all programs, including schools. Quinn, who became governor 21 months ago when former Gov. Rod Blagojevich was indicted for corruption, has an unfavorable rating of 41 percent and a favorability rating of only 34 percent.
