McMaster: 'Extraordinarily Capable Forces' Keep Trump Safe

President Donald Trump's National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster did not seem too worried when asked if there are concerns about Trump's safety during his upcoming trip to the tense Korean peninsula, noting the "capable" U.S. forces that will help protect him.

Newsmax's John Gizzi asked McMaster about the subject during Thursday's White House press briefing amid a stream of threats on Trump's life coming from North Korean leaders.

"Whenever the president travels, our team does an assessment," said McMaster, who is also a lieutenant general in the Army. "We have extraordinarily capable forces in the region. That's routine for us. We will take all that into consideration."

Later in the briefing, McMaster was asked if the U.S. is worried North Korea could increase its aggressive military actions during Trump's trip that will take him to Hawaii, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines from Nov. 3-14.

"The only thing that is ratcheting up North Korea's aggression is the North Korean regime itself," McMaster countered. "And so what's important is for us to have the capabilities necessary and to have them in the right locations to deter conflict and then, if necessary, to respond to North Korean aggression."
