The White House has not ruled out putting North Korea back on the list of countries with state-sponsored terrorism, National Security Adviser H.R. McMaster said Thursday.

McMaster faced an onslaught of questions pertaining to North Korea and the nuclear threat that nation poses during the White House press briefing.

"That is an option that is under consideration," said McMaster, who is also a lieutenant general in the Army. "The president's Cabinet is looking at this as part of the overall strategy on North Korea.

"A regime who murders someone in a public airport using nerve agents and a leader who murders his brother in that matter, that is clearly an act of terrorism that fits in with the range of other actions. This is something that is under consideration. You will hear more about that soon, I think."

President Donald Trump, members of his national security team, and others will travel to Hawaii, Japan, South Korea, China, Vietnam, and the Philippines from Nov. 3-14. He will meet with several world leaders and will attend the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting, where he is slated to deliver a speech, in the second half of the trip.

Among the topics to be discussed is how to deal with ramped-up threats from North Korea.

"I think there would be a grave danger if that regime didn't understand the president's resolve to counter North Korean aggression," McMaster said.

The White House has said countless times that stopping North Korea's nuclear program and getting its leader Kim Jong Un in line starts with China taking a stronger stance on the matter.

"China is definitely doing more, but obviously it's not enough until all of us achieve denuclearization," McMaster noted.

It was announced this week Trump will not visit the DMZ between North and South Korea during his upcoming travels to the region.
