Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night hit President Donald Trump and Republicans over gun control in the aftermath of the worst mass shooting in U.S. history, the Sun-Sentinel reported.

Clinton, plugging her new book "What Happened" in front of friendly faces in the Democrat stronghold of Broward County, Florida, lamented the Las Vegas tragedy by blaming Republicans.

According to the Sun-Sentinel, Clinton blamed Trump for signing legislation that made it harder to keep guns out of the hands of people with mental illness, and she ripped Republicans for their silencer legislation, not mentioning that it has been shelved in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre.

Trump had been silent about any issue of gun laws since the Vegas massacre until Tuesday, when he said, "we'll be talking about gun laws as time goes by."

Trump's reticence to make any connections between the arsenal of the shooter and current gun laws is in concert with Republican lawmakers and his White House — now is not the time to get into the politics of guns.

For her part, Clinton defended her call for gun control even before first light came up Monday on the carnage left behind on the grounds where a country music festival ended in 59 people being slaughtered on the Las Vegas strip.

It's never "too soon to talk about" gun control, Clinton roared during her act.

"I have to tell you, what better time is there," Clinton said. "It's not too soon for us to say with one voice we are overdue for real, meaningful action."
