Voters say that Hillary Clinton benefited more from her party's national convention than Donald Trump did from his, according to a poll released by Rasmussen Reports on Monday.

Those surveyed indicated that they followed both national conventions with equal interest, but 45 percent of likely U.S. voters said the Democratic National Convention helped Clinton's pursuit of the presidency, while just 21 percent said it hurt her. The rest said it had no impact

Regarding the Republican National Convention, only 32 percent said it helped Trump's candidacy, while an equal number thought it hurt his chances and the remainder said it had no influence.

In other findings of the poll:
  • 66 percent of Democrats said Clinton was helped by her convention, while 58 percent of Republicans thought Trump was helped by his.
  • Among the unaffiliated, 45 percent said Clinton's convention helped her, while 27 percent said Trump's convention helped him.
  • 84 percent of voters followed reports about the Republican convention at least somewhat closely, with 45 percent saying they followed it very closely
  • 80 percent said they followed reports about the Democratic convention at least somewhat closely, with 41 percent saying they followed it very closely.
  • Men and those over 40 years of age followed the Republican convention more closely than the Democratic one.
The survey of one thousand likely voters was conducted on July 28 and 31. The margin of sampling error is =/- 3 percentage points with a 95 percent level of confidence.

A CBS poll released on Sunday showed that Clinton received a four percentage boost in her rating following the Democratic convention, compared to the two percent bounce Trump received from the Republican one.

Clinton now leads Trump in nationwide surveys 46 percent to 39 percent, according to CBS.
