House Republicans Holding Tony NYC Fundraiser

By    |   Friday, 06 December 2013 07:26 PM EST

The House Republican campaign arm is putting on the Ritz next week — a sold-out $15,000 a ticket fundraising event in New York City they're calling "2013 Bright Lights and Broadway," Politico reported Friday.

The National Republican Congressional Committee’s bash is being held Dec. 13 at the New York Palace Hotel on Madison Avenue.

At 8 a.m. on Friday, there’s a continental breakfast in the hotel’s Villard Room. At 10:30, there’s an hour-long policy briefing, followed by an hour-and-a-half long political briefing. Anyone with children can send them to their own event in the Reid Salon.

But before they hit the Big Apple, a budget deal needs to get done, warned House Speaker John Boehner. He "made it clear that the House is going to leave next Friday and you all know me pretty well: I mean what I say and I say what I mean." Boehner will not be attending the Manhattan event, a source said.

A bipartisan budget deal appears close, and it could be wrapped up next week. But political events like this one are routinely canceled because of happenings in Congress. The Senate plans to leave the Capitol around Dec. 20.
