White House press secretary Robert Gibbs says President Barack Obama's visit to certain districts would hurt Democratic candidates in the midterm elections.
"We're not going to go to places where people think it would be unhelpful for us to go," Gibbs said. "That would be crazy."
Last month Gibbs argued that Republicans have a chance to retake the House, with Obama chipping in with fundraising and mail pieces.
"We'll help people where we think we can help the most," Gibbs said.
