Both the Republican and Democrats failed to select a winner in their nominating contests to replace Rep. Doug Collins, R-Ga., in Georgia 9th Congressional District.
Both contests are now headed for a runoff since neither of the two Tuesday contests ended with a single candidate collecting more than 50% of the vote, according to The Hill.
For the Republicans, state Rep. Matt Gurtler will go against Navy Veteran Andrew Clyde. Gurtler finished on top in the primary with 22% of the vote. Clyde came in second place with almost 19%.
On the Democrats’ side, Brooke Siskin, a former candidate for the state House, will face off against Army veteran Devin Pandy. Siskin garnered 43% of the vote, compared to Pandy’s 31%.
Both runoffs are scheduled for Aug. 11.
Meanwhile, Collins, making a bid for the Senate, is facing Sen. Kelly Loeffler, R-Ga. Loeffler was appointed in December to replace Republican Sen. Johnny Isakson, who retired.
