President Donald Trump won all 10 of the Gallup-ranked, most-religious states – while losing contender Hillary Clinton swept nearly all 10 of the least religious, according to McClatchy news service.
The Gallup ranking released Wednesday showed Mississippi atop the most religious states, followed by Alabama, Utah, South Dakota, South Carolina, Arkansas, Louisiana, Tennessee, Oklahoma, Georgia, North Carolina, and Kentucky.
McClatchy reported North Carolina was the only state where the contest was even close: Trump won 49.8 percent of the vote, Clinton 46.2 percent. In the other states, Trump won by more than 10 percentage points, McClatchy reported.
Clinton won all of the 10 least religious states, with the exception of Alaska – carrying Vermont, Maine, Massachusetts, Rhode Island, Nevada, Oregon, Connecticut, Hawaii, New Hampshire, and Washington.
