Some of the top aides to former Environmental Protection Agency chief Scott Pruitt are stepping down following his resignation, The Washington Post reported.
Those leaving the agency include Jahan Wilcox, who had served as Pruitt’s spokesman; Lincoln Ferguson, a longtime aide and Hayley Ford, who worked as deputy White House liaison, according to the newspaper.
The newspaper noted that many of Pruitt’s top confidants had left earlier this year.
"I thank all those who are moving on to new endeavors for their service to EPA,” the agency’s chief of staff, Ryan Jackson, said.
Pruitt’s resignation was announced on Thursday by President Donald Trump. It followed a deluge of damaging revelations about Pruitt’s spending, travel and a condo rental.
Meanwhile, some of the departing aides issued statements in praise of their time at the EPA, the Post noted.
"It’s been a privilege to advance President Trump’s agenda of environmental stewardship and regulatory reform,” Wilcox said. "Now it’s time to focus on helping Republicans in November."
And Ferguson said: "It has been an honor and privilege to serve at EPA for the past year and a half. While I am proud of the important work that was accomplished under administrator Pruitt’s leadership, my wife and I look forward to returning home to welcome our first son in the great state of Oklahoma."
