The presidential election in Pennsylvania is much closer than everyone thought it would be just a few weeks ago and is too close to call, former Democratic National Convention general chairman Ed Rendell admitted, but said his “instinct is that we’re going to hold on… [and win the state] by 3-4 points.”
Rendell, also the former Pennsylvania governor, told John Catsimatidis on “The Cats Roundtable” Sunday radio talk show on AM 970 in New York that if Hillary Clinton wins Pennsylvania and Florida, “that’s it, it’s over, there’s no way [she] won’t become president of the United States.”
Rendell said the reason that “Pennsylvania is going to be closer than I thought it would be…. [is] basically because of the unfairness of what the FBI did.”
He explained that when he was District Attorney of Philadelphia and also special prosecutor to investigate municipal corruption, “we had a hard and fast rule that we did not release anything concerning someone who was to defend themselves in court.”
Rendell also expressed concern about the prospects for Democrats to win the key Senate race in Pennsylvania.
He said Katie McGinty is holding her own against Republican incumbent Sen. Pat Toomey, but how that race ends up “will in great part depend on how Hillary Clinton does.”
