House Appropriations Committee Chairman David Obey, D-Wis. (pictured), is retiring after 40 years in the House, and it looks like a Republican will replace him. That’s one of many long-held Democratic seats that the GOP is likely to snag this year,
The Hill reports.

In Obey’s Wisconsin district, Republican Sean Duffy leads Democrat Julie Lassa 44 percent to 35 percent in a new poll from The Hill.
Another Democratic seat at risk is Rep. John Dingell’s in Michigan. After 54 years in office, he’s facing a stiff challenge from Republican Rob Steele, who leads by four points in a poll from
Rossman/Team TelCom.
Other veteran Democrats in trouble include Ike Skelton of Missouri, chairman of the Armed Services Committee; John Spratt of South Carolina, chairman of the Budget Committee; and Nick Rahall of West Virginia, chairman of the Natural Resources Committee.
