Conservative voice and NRA spokeswoman Dana Loesch on Thursday called on every politician to "get on record" with their stance on the Second Amendment amid the reverberations stemming from a call to abolish it.
A guest on "Fox & Friends" morning show, Loesch says she's on board with Sen. Lindsey Graham's suggestion that every congressional Democrat state their position in the wake of former Supreme Court Justice John Paul Stevens' call to repeal the Second Amendment.
"I think that all politicians should let Americans know where they stand on their right to self defense," Loesch said on Fox News. "Graham's right — get on record. Where do you stand?"
Loesch said Stevens' "incredibly odd" column and the conversation that it has generated is proof positive that despite their protestations to the contrary, the anti-gun establishment really is determined to take away the guns of law-abiding citizens.
"I think for the first time we're finally starting to see anti-gun advocates be honest about where they are on this issue," Loesch said. "We see this over and over and we're always told, 'well, we don't wanna take your guns' but yet, that's what you're writing. You're writing actual editorials in nationally distributed publications where you're talking about repealing the Second Amendment.
"That's exactly what they want, they just stop short of actually articulating it because it doesn't poll well," Loesch said.
Loesch gave one example, saying that one call for a "mandatory buy-back" of guns is "word salad for confiscation."
Loesch gave a nod to the hundreds of thousands of protesters last week for exercising their First Amendment rights in the "March for our Lives" events across the country, but wishes those same people would reciprocate that respect for Second Amendment advocates.
"I really wish the other side of the debate would stop projecting their worst notions on Second Amendment advocates. And stop and listen. Maybe not assume the worst," Loesch said.
"Maybe give your fellow Americans a little bit of credit and have a real conversation … instead of saying you have blood on your hands or you like your guns more than your children."
