President Donald Trump in a Tuesday tweet cast doubt on the prospects of a deal to fix the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program.
"Nobody knows for sure that the Republicans and Democrats will be able to reach a deal on DACA by February 8," Trump tweeted.
The Feb. 8 date is the end date of the continuing resolution that was passed to end the government shutdown. A deal on DACA was not included in the resolution, but Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., agreed to address the Democrats’ demands for a deal.
Earlier Tuesday, the president sent a tweet congratulating Republicans for the end of the shutdown. In that tweet, he expressed optimism that a long-term funding solution can be found.
