Sen. Tom Cotton, R-Ark., on Sunday defended President Donald Trump’s description of injuries to U.S. troops stationed in Iraq during retaliatory missile strikes by Iran that sparked an apology demand from the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
In an interview on CBS News’ “Face The Nation,” Cotton, an Army veteran who served in Afghanistan and Iraq, said the president, who called the traumatic brain injuries “not very serious,” doesn’t have anything to apologize for.
“He’s not dismissing their injuries, he’s describing their injuries,” Cotton said, adding those TBI incidents were “not all serious.”
“If the president is describing the less serious side, he’s not dismissing them, he’s describing them,” he insisted.
