Next week's spending bill in the halls of Congress will include continued federal funding for sanctuary cities and Planned Parenthood, according to a new report.
The Daily Caller reported Friday that a draft of the bill, which must be passed and signed into law by March 23 to prevent another government shutdown, goes against what many conservatives are lobbying for.
"House and Senate leadership has rolled over and played dead on border security. When it comes to a border wall, they say it is not our problem. When it comes to funding sanctuary cities, they say it is not our problem," a senior Republican aide told The Daily Caller.
"What they are essentially saying is we are going to pass bills with more Democrats than Republicans. This is a sign to administration that leadership doesn't care what the White House wants. Even though GOP members ran on these issues. Conservatives mean it. The administration means it."
The draft of the bill, which is being kept locked up to maintain secrecy, has provisions that would keep taxpayer money going to sanctuary cities and abortion provider Planned Parenthood, subsidies for Obamacare, gun control legislation, taxes on internet purchases, and more.
President Donald Trump and several Republicans have called on Congress to defund Planned Parenthood and stop giving federal money to cities that do not enforce federal immigration laws.
The spending bill will need at least 51 votes to pass in the Senate. Republicans currently have a 51-49 advantage there, although Sen. John McCain, R-Ariz., is at home in Arizona receiving cancer treatment and may not return to the Senate until this summer.
