Christie Fires Back at Lautenberg

Popular Republican New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie (pictured at right) isn’t happy about the criticism he is receiving from Democratic New Jersey Sen. Frank Lautenberg. The senator went after Christie for his decision to cancel an $8.7 billion rail tunnel project connecting New Jersey to New York, The Hill reports.

“All he knows how to do is blow hot air," Christie tells New York Magazine. "So I don’t really care what Frank Lautenberg has to say about much of anything."

Lautenberg commenced hostilities with Christie in October, when he called the governor’s tunnel decision, "one of the biggest public policy blunders in New Jersey’s history."

Still, Christie says he’s willing to work with the 86-year-old senator. “I’m always willing to read something in the paper that he said, and if he makes sense, I’m happy to work with him on it. I haven’t found one yet."
