Scientists are developing a low-cost, bedside ventilator that could revolutionize emergency medical care while easing the dramatic shortage of hi-tech ventilators in hospitals being flooded with coronavirus victims.

The device, known as the MIT E-Vent, operates on the principles of the Ambu-bag, the simple manual resuscitator hospitals keep next to most beds for emergencies.
