"We just went through a very contentious primary process, we had 17 candidates. We've only had a presumptive nominee for a little over a week. We need to take some time, pump the brakes, and focus on healing our party," she said.
"And certainly we owe it to Donald Trump to give him time to heal the party, and more importantly, we owe it to those voters who elected him as our presumptive nominee to show them that we're going to give him that time to unite the party."
Romney McDaniel added that Republicans need to band together to help defeat Democrat Hillary Clinton so she can't further "the disastrous Obama agenda."
When asked if she has heard anything about a third-party candidate running for president, Romney McDaniel stressed the importance of the party uniting.
"We are not going to win the White House if we are not united," she said.
"The healing is just beginning, it's going to take some time, and I'm going to keep working on everybody, including my Uncle Mitt."
Trump met with House Speaker Paul Ryan and Republican leaders in the
Senate Thursday to try to patch things up and work up a general election plan moving forward.
