President Donald Trump should avoid nominating another politician to the Attorney General post, after former Sen. Jeff Sessions, R-Ala., was ousted Wednesday, former assistant U.S. attorney, Sidney Powell told Newsmax TV.
"I hope he does not choose a politician," Powell told Thursday's "America Talks Live." "I think it needs to be a real lawyer who has experience both inside and outside of government.
"I think it would be a mistake to choose simply another person from the Senate or the halls of government. Any longtime swamp creature would be a mistake."

While Powell agrees the president has the Constitutional authority to decide who serves as his attorney general, she told host John Bachman it should a political outsider as the next U.S. attorney general.
"It needs to be somebody who shares his agenda draining the swamp," Powell added. "That was one of the problems with Mr. Sessions.
"As much as I like, admire, and respect Mr. Sessions, he's been in Washington for 30-some years, and while I laud and appreciate his government service, I don't think he saw it from the perspective that is needed from an outsider to see what needs to be done."
