Author and political commentator Michael Reagan told Newsmax TV Monday Donald Trump needs to start appealing to Hispanic voters if he wants to win the presidential election.
When asked about Trump's upcoming speech that will be about immigration and will not include a plan of deporting all illegal immigrants living in the United States, Reagan said Trump is starting to figure things out.
"He's trying to get elected president of the United States," Reagan told Bill Tucker on the "Steve Malzberg Show."
"He's finding out that the Hispanic population is not going to buy into his rhetoric that he began with a little over a year ago and he's stayed with up until two weeks ago. Whether we want to like it or not, the Hispanics are a large part of this country and they're going to be voting. If they don't vote for Trump, Trump doesn't win the election coming up in November."

Reagan pointed out that Hispanics who support Trump, such as his gardener, are afraid to speak their minds and publicly support his presidential campaign because they'll be going against the general anti-Trump sentiment among the demographic.
"That's part of the problem," said Reagan, the eldest son of former President Ronald Reagan. "Much like with blacks who say, 'hey, I'm going to vote for Trump.' What happens in their household or in their community? They're ostracized within their community and so therein lies much of the problem."
Reagan's new book is "Lessons My Father Taught Me: The Strength, Integrity, and Faith of Ronald Reagan."
