The remaining storylines regarding the guilty verdict and the second trial for former Trump campaign chairman Paul Manafort will have a minimal political impact on the president, author and political strategist Jeffrey Lord told Newsmax TV.
During an appearance on "Newsmax Now," Lord said American voters are over the Manafort saga.
"I honestly think that America has been 'Manaforted' out on this. No matter what happens, I can't see that it's gonna have any particular political impact one way or another," Lord said.
"Whatever political impact was to be had has been had and is being factored in, I think, as we speak. I just think whether he's let off scot-free or found guilty on absolutely everything, it's not gonna have any more of a difference than it's already made."
Manafort was found guilty on eight counts of tax and bank fraud last week. His upcoming trial will focus on charges that he laundered money and did political consulting work for foreign countries without registering with the U.S. government.
President Donald Trump has come to Manafort's defense in the wake of the guilty verdict, saying he has "great respect for what he has done, in terms of what he has gone through."
Trump is even mulling over the idea of pardoning Manafort at some point.
