'Newsmax Prime' Panel: America Not as Strong as It Once Was

Iran's interception of an unarmed cargo ship shows America is not as strong as it once was and Iran isn't afraid to do anything it wants, panelists said Tuesday on Newsmax TV.

"It says Iran is not afraid of the international community," former Defense Department spokesman J.D. Gordon told host J.D. Hayworth on the show "Newsmax Prime."

The cargo ship is from the Marshall Islands, which the United States has a treaty to protect, Gordon said. "It's very alarming because it just shows Iran does whatever it wants. That's very troubling for all Americans."

Afghanistan and Iraq War veteran Scott Neil said the sailors were taken off the ship to be used as tools for Iraq's bidding.

Gordon said the sailors very well may be being held as hostages, but cautioned against jumping to any conclusions before more is learned.

"The Iranians are trying to say that they had a court order for this ship somehow. It's very murky right now," he said.

Both Iran and Russia are taking advantage of President Barack Obama's worldview that our enemies can be appeased, Gordon said.

Iran is testing to see how much they can get away with and just prove that America doesn't have strategies in place to stand up to them, said Debbie Lee, the mother of Navy SEAL Marc Lee, who was killed in Iraq.

"You have to wonder what was going on last week when you had the American carrier group that was sent out into Yemen and blocked some of the shipments to the rebels in Yemen," Neil said. "Whether this is kind of a reminder that we're not as powerful as we think and that Iran will kind of counterstrike us."
