Vice President Kamala Harris' true agenda is far more radical than the Democratic Party is making it appear, says Rep. Jeff Van Drew, R-N.J.
"There's no question that the mainstream media is in her pocket," Van Drew said Saturday during an appearance on Newsmax's "Saturday Report."
And the media's failure to hold Harris accountable is part of a broader strategy by Democrats who, he says, are "smart" and "focused" on winning at any cost.
"They don't want to expose her to anything that could possibly go wrong," he added, noting the carefully crafted image being presented through polished TV ads and light-hearted interviews.
Van Drew has raised alarms over what he describes as the Democratic Party's deliberate and calculated strategy to mislead the American public and said this approach is designed to appeal to middle America by portraying Harris and her running mate, [Tim Walz], as relatable and "mainstream" despite their actual policies.
He pointed out the superficial nature of recent media coverage, highlighting how interviews have centered on trivial matters like favorite foods and pop music preferences.
"They're trying to appeal to people that they're nice, regular folks … and they're anything but that," he remarked.
"They're not moderate. I mean, at the end of the day, I mean, I want people to understand if she is elected president of the United States with him as vice president, it is going to be a socialistic left-wing government. I mean, it's going to be something like we've never seen before," he warned.
The congressman expressed concern over the Democratic Party's ability to manage Harris' public image, particularly through scripted speeches and carefully controlled media appearances. He warned that Harris would struggle in situations requiring her to think quick on her feet, such as debates or unscripted interviews.
"The problem is if she has to think on her own and go through a debate … she's in trouble," Van Drew asserted.
Van Drew also took aim at Harris' policy positions, accusing her of advocating for measures that would harm the country. He listed a series of policies he believes are fundamentally wrong for America, including legalizing illegal immigrants, expanding the nuclear agreement with Iran, and reducing domestic energy production.
"She's the face of inflation, she's the face of high interest rates, she's the face of terrible policies in our urban areas," he argued, stating that the Republican Party's job is to ensure voters are aware of these issues.
He criticized the Democrats for pursuing policies that failed elsewhere, predicting dire consequences like food shortages and economic instability if Harris were elected. "If you think Biden was bad, you haven't seen the half of it," Van Drew cautioned.
Looking ahead, Van Drew stressed the importance of educating voters about the true nature of Harris' policies. He urged Republicans to focus on substance over personality, making it clear that the stakes are too high for the election to be reduced to a popularity contest.
"We don't have to say nasty things about her … all we need to do is say these are her policies," he said, highlighting the need to counter the Democrats' narrative with hard facts.
