Democrats concocted a fake scenario about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential race in a pathetic bid to deflect the blame for the party's loss, said Scott McEwen, a military historian and bestselling co-author of "American Sniper."
"I believe the entire story was made up . . . after the devastating loss by Hillary Clinton," McEwan said Wednesday on "The Brett Winterble Show" on Newsmax TV.
"The fact [is] that they had a candidate that was a really unelectable. So, they decided to blame it on the Russians, and there has been zero proof that I'm seeing thus far.
"They just try and create a story that the Russians caused this and they run with it instead of trying to analyze their own political ineptitude in running Hillary Clinton."
McEwan also believes the truth will eventually emerge.
"I'm hopeful that this 'investigation' by [special prosecutor Robert] Mueller et al, in the Senate and as well as in the House, is going to come up with what really took place here," he told Brett Winterble.
"That the Democrat National Committee was busted for essentially taking out one of their own candidates during the primary and that that investigation revealed a lot of other information that was ultimately put on the Internet by Wikileaks, etc. And that that is the real story here.
"I think it has nothing to do with what happened with this country's election of Donald Trump . . . I believe this country really embraced the message of Donald Trump, and that's why he was elected president of the United States."
McEwan, a lawyer, is also the author of "Sniper Elite: One-Way Trip," "American Commander: Serving a Country Worth Fighting for and Training the Brave Soldiers Who Lead the Way."
