The latest Rasmussen Reports poll reveals a growing disconnect between United States citizens of voting age and the various media outlets.
For Rasmussen's recent national telephone and online survey, 62% of likely voters said the news media's respective biases are getting progressively worse.
Also, 26% rated the media's work, balance-wise, as roughly the same, and 10% believe the media's doing a better job of informing readers and viewers.
The Rasmussen survey, which recorded the opinions of 1,000 likely midterm voters over a two-day period (Aug. 21-22), comes with a 95% confidence rate and a low margin-of-error range of 2 percentage points.
The "fake news" component prominently factored into the Rasmussen survey, with a whopping 82% saying that deceptive media practices were either a "somewhat serious" (20%) or "very serious" problem (62%); and for that 82% grouping, the breakdown involved 90% Republicans, 78% Democrats, and 78% independents.
Regarding the media's role with politics, only 32% of respondents expressed total trust with the reporting, whereas 52% believe they cannot always rely on media messaging with political issues and candidates.
The highest trust levels, regarding media and politics, came from those who identify as "liberals" (56%) or Democrats (55%).
