The survivors of the Parkland, Florida high school shooting need "belief in God and Jesus Christ," former Utah Congressman Jason Chaffetz said Thursday.
"I think of those kids who went back to school today after that horrific shooting, and they need something more. They need a belief in God and Jesus Christ. I think that would help," Chaffetz said on Fox News' "America's Newsroom," Media Matters reported.
Chaffetz's comments came when asked what it meant for lawmakers to pause their workday and reflect on the life of evangelist Billy Graham, who died Feb. 21.
"I'm proud of the speaker and the majority leader and everybody who supported this, to make this happen. Rev. Graham impacted millions of lives," Chaffetz said.
"We need more good news, more good message, more of the good word reaching out to America," the former congressman added.
