Maddy Wilford, critically wounded during the shooting spree at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School, is now expected to make a full recovery, the Sun-Sentinel reports.

Her doctors call it remarkable since she was shot three times and was barely clinging to life following the rampage. One shot pierced her chest, another her torso and a third bullet traveled through her right arm, according to the newspaper.

Seventeen people were killed at the high school in Parkland, Florida on Feb. 14.

Wilford was released from the hospital on Wednesday and escorted back home to Parkland by four police officers on motorcycles and three Chevy Tahoes behind them.

Along with her parents, two doctors and Lt. Laz Ojeda of the Coral Springs Fire Department, Wilford met the press on Monday.

"I'm Madeleine Wilford," she said. "And I'd just like to say that I'm so grateful to be here."

The Palm Beach Post reported Wilford, 17, underwent three emergency surgeries as a result of the shooting.

However, she is expected to resume classes next week.
