ICE Agent Who Killed Renee Good Was Dragged 100 Yards in June

Jonathan Ross, the Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent reportedly involved in the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis on Wednesday was dragged more than 100 yards by a fleeing suspect's vehicle during a June arrest attempt involving a foreign national and convicted sex offender.

That happened in Bloomington, Minnesota, where Ross suffered injuries that required 20 stitches to his right arm and 13 stitches to his left hand, according to court records.

Ross on Wednesday shot and killed Good, 37, in her vehicle in Minneapolis, sparking large protests in the streets.

The Department of Homeland Security says the officer shot her in self-defense after she tried to run him over.

Anti-ICE protesters clashed with police in Minnesota on Thursday as demonstrations continued in the wake of her killing.

Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey, a Democrat, criticized DHS' characterization of the shooting and told ICE to "get the [expletive] out of Minneapolis" at a Wednesday news conference.

The June incident that left Ross injured led to a federal conviction in December. A jury in U.S. District Court in St. Paul found Roberto Carlos Munoz, 40, guilty of assault on a federal officer with a dangerous and deadly weapon, and causing bodily injury.

According to court testimony, Ross and other agents stopped Munoz at about 8 a.m. June 17 to detain him on an immigration order.

Agents asked Munoz to open his window and door, but he only partially lowered the partway and did not obey further commands, the court heard.

Ross, identified as an ICE Enforcement and Removal Operations officer, then broke the rear window and tried to unlock the vehicle from the inside.

Munoz then accelerated and sped away while Ross' arm was trapped inside the car, dragging him down the street, court records said. He was pulled at least 100 yards, suffering serious injury to his arm.

Photographs submitted to the court showed a long, deep jagged cut on Ross' right arm that required 20 stitches. Court records also said he needed 13 stitches in his left hand.

In a statement at the time, the Department of Justice said that Munoz "dragged the federal agent for more than 100 yards, while weaving back and forth in an attempt to shake the agent from the car."

Court records also show Munoz was charged in December 2022 with repeated sexual abuse of a 16-year-old girl. He was ultimately convicted of a fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct felony offense.
