A group of 23 Nobel Prize-winning economists signed a letter in support of Vice President Kamala Harris' economic agenda.
The economists said the Democrat presidential nominee's plan is "vastly superior" to that from former President Donald Trump, the Republican nominee.
"While each of us has different views on the particulars of various economic policies, we believe that, overall, Harris' economic agenda will improve our nation's health, investment, sustainability, resilience, employment opportunities, and fairness and be vastly superior to the counterproductive economic agenda of Donald Trump," the economists write in the letter obtained by CNN.
The letter is comprised of just 228 words — an effort to secure consensus across a broader spectrum of economists with precision, the outlet added.
The letter points to Trump's tariff and tax policies as inflationary and likely to balloon the federal deficit.
Trump has said he would seek to extend his 2017 tax cuts, as well as abolish taxes on tips, overtime, and social security benefits.
Some analysts say Trump's plan would cost trillions.
"Among the most important determinants of economic success are the rule of law and economic and political certainty, and Trump threatens all of these," said the economists, who added that Harris' policies "strengthen the middle class, enhance competition and promote entrepreneurship."
The letter was spearheaded by Columbia University professor Joseph Stiglitz, a 2001 Nobel Prize winner.
In June, Stiglitz led an effort joining 16 Nobel prize-winning economists who cautioned voters on what they saw as the inflationary pitfalls of another Trump administration.
At the time, Trump dismissed the group's letter, and his campaign slammed those who signed on as "worthless out of touch" economists.
Last month, however, The Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania told Newsweek that its analysis of Harris' economic plan "did not find a positive impact on the economy from her plan in any future year."
The economy remains the No. 1 issue as the Nov. 5 general election nears, a Newsweek survey found.
