Two days after an Emerson Poll showed President Trump losing historically Republican North Carolina to three different Democrats in 2020, the political class in the Tar Heel State is still heatedly discussing it.

According to the survey released on Tuesday, former Vice President Joe Biden beats Trump among likely North Carolina voters by 56 to 44 percent.

Even more shocking was the Emerson test race between Bernie Sanders and Trump, in which the self-styled Socialist clobbers the President by 54 to 46 percent.

South Bend (Ind.) Mayor Pete Buttigieg, who has just made a splash on the national political scene, beats Trump by 52 to 48 percent.

Emerson also found Trump in a 50-50 percent tie with far-left Sen. Elizabeth Warren, Mass.  The only one of the five Democratic hopefuls tested by Emerson in North Carolina that Trump led was California Sen. Kamala Harris (51 to 49 percent).

The poll caused particular jitters among North Carolina Republicans because Trump only narrowly (49.83 to 46.17 percent) carried the state’s 15 electoral votes over Hillary Clinton in 2016.

But there was some skepticism about the figures and Emerson’s method of polling.  Marc Rotterman, veteran North Carolina political analyst, told Newsmax: “I don’t buy it.  It’s way too early and Emerson doesn’t do live calls.”

“Trump has a great deal of intensity with the base, and I can’t see moderates and suburban women endorsing the Democrats’ radical agenda,” he added.
