2020 Choice Easy: Trump's Recovery or Biden's Long, Dark Winter

Fitting for the year itself, the 2020 election is as unpredictable as white-water rafting down Potomac’s Great Falls. However, among the many twists and turns there are seven constant factors driving it.

Primarily, there is President Donld J. Trump himself.

Far more than the issues, the president's personality is on trial.

His brash New York developer, non-political style has rewritten conventional norms.

He possesses the fortitude to use his power.

As a resuly, he has hurt countless feelings and egos in the process.

As it always does, the opposition has vigorously fought back but this time they’ve been joined by status quo protectors of the Republican establishment --- mostly those who have been left out and seek relevance by becoming useful idiots to the Left.

Apparently, Second Amendment rights and the make-up of the U.S. Supreme Court is subordinate to a White House Christmas party invitation.

Secondly, the media has become a thermostat as opposed to a thermometer.

From being Left-wing allies and outright co-conspirators in the phony Russian collusion hoax, to becoming cheerleading during the impeachment trial, the media’s Trump derangement is clinical.

They have ignored Trump’s eliminations of terrorist leaders such as Iranian Gen. Qasem Soleimani, his economic policy success with low employment and wage growth, Nobel Peace Prize nominations, and have refused to ask the first question about Hunter Biden.

Today’s media is as neutral as an Eagles fan during a Patriots game.

Third, the impact of Coronavirus is undeniable.

For their part, scientists have been all over the place regarding travel bans, face masks, and even human-to-human transmissions. Indeed, the World Health Organization did not even call it a pandemic until March 11th.

Yet, every misstep gets blamed on this president.

As one  example, it was somehow Trump’s fault when the New York governor mixed healthy patients with unhealthy patients in nursing homes resulting in 10,000 deaths.

In January of this year, when the president issued the China travel ban, Joe Biden declared it "xenophobic."

Nancy Pelosi rushed to San Francisco's Chinatown to call it racist.

Irrespective of the partisanship, Trump set up a task force with America’s best scientists, pushed through more travel bans and a massive CARES relief package, created Operation Warped Speed to discover a vaccine, deployed hospital ships to Los Angeles and New york City, and used the War Production Act and Emergency Use Authorizations to boast our personal protective equipment (PPE) supply.

In contrast, Joe Biden is as vague about his coronavirus plan as he is Hunter’s business dealings.

Fourth, we have the economy.

We went from the lowest unemployment rates in decades to across-the-board shutdowns.

Now, even with stabilized healthcare capacity, openings are as timid as a turtle emerging from its shell. In Michigan, Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who serves on the Biden Campaign team, is still of and in the same mindset we had in February.

She is doing everything she can to fulfill Joe Biden’s promise of a long dark winter.

Meanwhile in my home state of Georgia, Governor Brian Kemp has acted with clarity and boldness. Jobs have come back, and state revenues are up.

Most importantly infection related deaths have decreased.

Remarkably, the economy is clawing its way back.

Last quarter our GDP rose by 33% --- one of the highest in history.

There is quite a contrast in vision.

President Trump believes we must face the crisis head on.

Mr. Biden does not want us to come out of our basements until the coast is 100% clear.

Fifth, 2020 spending for all federal races is $11 billion dollars.

That is twice the 2008 level and 50% higher than the 2016 level.

The small state of South Carolina holds the number one slot for Senate races at $174 million --- almost three times the spending in Texas!

What a difference it would make if candidates were only allowed to raise money in their home states!

In sixth place is early voting.

From Hollywood to corporate America the "vote early" mantra is no longer limited to political activists. 93 million votes have already been cast.

Election Day is merely the last chance.

In swing states, which are often decided by a few hundred votes, post-election day skirmishes are inevitable as we sort through mail-in ballots. Lawyers from both parties have packed their bags and are simply waiting to know their destination.

Soon we will know the modern-day version of "hanging chads"!

Finally, we get to the issues.

Along with the coronavirus and the economy we are having a national discussion on social justice, rioting, demonstrations, defunding the police, court packing, limiting Second Amendment rights, implementing the Green New Deal, rejoining the Iran Nuclear Agreement, and a list of other emotionally charged matters that are well worth debating.

With President Trump we have an idea of what to expect.

As demonstrated with his flip-flopping on fracking, Biden leaves us much uncertainty.

However, we do know he cannot win without the socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, D-N.Y., (AOC) squad, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., and Sen. Elizabeth Warren, D-Mass.

That should tell us enough.

As for me it’s easy. I’ll take Trump’s "V-shaped recovery" over Biden’s "long dark winter."

So what if Donald Trump is a gruff guy from Queens, there is no doubt that in 47 months he has accomplished more than Joe Biden has in 47 years.

Donald J. Trump has earned four more years.

Former Congressman Jack Kingston served in Congress for 22 years representing Georgia's First Congressional District in Southeast Georgia from 1993 to 2015. He served as vice-chairman of the House Republican Conference, the sixth-ranking post among House Republicans, from 2002-2006. He also served on the powerful Appropriations Committee – chairing its Subcommittees on Agriculture and Labor, Health, and Human Services and Education. He also served on its Defense Subcommittee for many years. In Congress, Rep. Kingston earned a reputation as an effective legislator with a keen ability to resolve complex matters by reaching across the aisle. Prior to his service in Congress, Rep. Kingston was a member of the Georgia State Legislature and was vice-president of Palmer & Cay Insurance Services. He was the only Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) in Congress. Currently he works at international law and lobbying firm, Squire Patton Boggs. Read Congressman Kingston's Reports — More Here.
