McConnell Attacks Obama Jobs Plan in Advance

By    |   Tuesday, 06 September 2011 12:09 PM EDT

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell has launched a pre-emptive strike against the jobs and economic programs that President Barack Obama will offer in his speech Thursday. The critique came in a Washington Post opinion piece that McConnell wrote on the United States’ languishing trade deals with Colombia, Panama, and South Korea.

“Some people are wondering what the president’s plan will look like,” McConnell writes. “One thing we can be sure of is that whatever he proposes will cost money and give even more power to Washington. And this stubborn refusal to let individuals and businesses take the lead on getting Americans back to work is what is holding the economy back.

“The question is: how much worse does the economy have to get before the president puts aside his failed economic philosophy and outdated political playbook?”
