GOP Sen. Lindsey Graham warned Republican presidential candidates on Sunday not to be doveish and isolationist if they wanted to be the next resident of the White House,
Politico reports.
"If you think the pathway to the GOP nomination is to get to Barack Obama's left, you're going to meet a lot of headwinds," Graham said on "Meet the Press."
On other subjects, Graham said:
- Congress should "shut up on Libya" and not try to force an end to military action or cut off funding. "Congress should sort of shut up and not empower [Libyan strongman Moammar] Gadhafi," Graham said. "I would take the course that conservatives have been taking for the last 30 years — The War Powers Act is unconstitutional, not worth the paper it's written on. It's an infringement on the power of the commander in chief."
- The GOP should boost federal revenue by killing subsidies and tax deductions, rather than raising taxes.
