Report: Ailes Autobiography Could Fetch $4 Million Advance

By    |   Tuesday, 13 December 2011 12:15 PM EST

The autobiography of Roger Ailes, who has overseen Fox News from a start-up in 17 million homes to one of the most profitable and respected news organizations in the United States, could fetch an advance of up to $4 million, according to New York magazine.

Representing the 71-year-old Ailes in the potential book venture is Robert Barnett, a powerful Washington, D.C., attorney who also represents the Clintons, former President George W. Bush, and Barbra Streisand.

Ailes created the Fox News Channel for Rupert Murdoch in 1996. By 2010, Fox had captured 10 of the top-rated cable news shows in the 25-54 age demographic.

Ailes worked on two presidential campaigns — Richard Nixon’s in 1969, and George H.W. Bush’s in 1988 — before Fox.

Fox News contributor James Pinkerton reportedly will co-write the book.
