Carly Fiorina has the smarts and the leadership qualities to take on Donald Trump and the rest of the Republican pack and capture the 2016 GOP presidential nomination, former Rep. Nan Hayworth told Newsmax TV.

Hayworth — a physician and mother of two who represented New York's 19th Congressional District from 2011-13 — is serving as a co-chair of Fiorina's campaign efforts in the Empire State.
She said Fiorina is also cutting through charges from the left that GOP policies amount to a "war on women."
"She is fighting the war for women every day. It is women in this country who are the most at risk; women and families from this terrible economy," Hayworth said.
"Carly Fiorina will transform our economy. She is a truly visionary leader who yes happens to be a woman and she will lead us forward for every single American."
In CNN/ORC poll released Tuesday
, Trump leads with 24 percent support among GOP registered voters.
The billionaire developer is followed by former Florida Gov. Jeb Bush with 13 percent, Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker and Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, both with 8 percent; Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul with6 percent; and Fiorina, Texas Sen. Ted Cruz and Ohio Gov. John Kasich, with 5 percent each.
