Obama Plays On, But No Golf Coverage Allowed

By    |   Tuesday, 23 August 2011 01:49 PM EDT

To golf or not to golf: That is the question.

President George W. Bush gave up one of his favorite pastimes because he didn’t think it was seemly for the commander in chief to be seen hitting the links while the country was embroiled in two wars.

“And I think playing golf during a war just sends the wrong message,” Bush told Politico in 2008, five years after he had abandoned the game.
President Barack Obama, who has faced some criticism for vacationing with his family on the Massachusetts resort island of Martha’s Vineyard amid the global economic crisis and the culmination of Libyan rebels’ efforts to topple dictator Moammar Gadhafi, is playing golf.

But don’t expect to see a lot of photos of it. No open press coverage of Obama’s time on the links has been allowed, CNSNews.com reported.
