Carney: White House Staff Cleared in Secret Service Probe

No White House staff engaged in misconduct during a trip to Columbia where Secret Service agents allegedly hired prostitutes, Press Secretary Jay Carney announced.

"The decision to conduct a review here, internally, was simply done out of due diligence," Carney said. "There is no indication of any misconduct by any member of the White House advance team or staff."

And, he said, "there have been no specific, credible allegations of misconduct by anyone on the White House advance team or White House staff."

According to the Washington Examiner, Carney gave no details of the investigation.

"There's no point in getting into the details of this internal review except to say that it was conducted," he said.

Carney also noted that the White House Communication Agency, which remains under investigation is technically not considered part of the White House.

"WHCA, as we call it, is staffed entirely by military personnel, not by White House staff," Carney said, attempting to distance the administration from the agency. "They are not members of the White House staff, they are not chosen by the White House."
