As President Donald Trump continues his attacks on the media, The Washington Post has come up with a new catchphrase for its publication: "Democracy Dies in Darkness."
"This is actually something we've said internally for a long time in speaking about our mission," Shani George, communications director at the paper, told The Huffington Post. "We thought it would be a good, concise value statement that conveys who we are to the many millions of readers who have come to us for the first time over the last year."
The slogan already appears on the Post's website and will soon be on its other platforms over the next few weeks.
Although the catchphrase isn't directly aimed at President Donald Trump, it's impossible not to draw a connection between them, The Huffington Posted noted.
And The Hill reported some members of the media were mocking the new slogan.
The Post has been a "frequent target of President Trump's attacks against 'the fake news media,' along with The New York Times and CNN," according to The Hill.
