The staffer that Republican Rep. Vance McAllister of Louisiana was caught kissing on a security camera was paid to clean campaign headquarters.
The staffer, Melissa Peacock, 33, was given $300 as a "reimbursement for headquarters cleaning" on Nov. 8, 2013, according to an election campaign finance report issued after McAllister's victory in November,
The Washington Post reported.
McAllister, who is married, was caught kissing Peacock on a surveillance camera in his district office in Monroe, La., on Dec. 23. The
video footage was released by The Ouachita Citizen on Monday.
The Louisiana Republican was endorsed by
"Duck Dynasty" stars Willie, Jep, and Jase Robertson, which he said "certainly didn't hurt" him in his win against state Sen. Neil Riser.
McAllister issued an apology Monday, saying that he had "fallen short" and asking "for forgiveness from God, my wife, my kids, my staff, and my constituents."
