Toyota Answers Congress Questions Before Hearings

Friday, 12 February 2010 06:32 PM EST

Toyota is offering some concessions to congressional investigators ahead of planned hearings on the company's safety woes later this month.

In a letter to the House Oversight Committee, an attorney for the automaker says Toyota will consider expanding the installation of a braking system that can override the throttle on new models.

Toyota also will take another look at consumer complaints of unwanted acceleration in its Tacoma pickup trucks.

Top Toyota executives are expected to testify in two weeks before the committee. It's the first of three planned congressional hearings on Toyota's huge recalls over safety.
