A former bartender charged with threatening to kill House Speaker John Boehner is scheduled for a hearing later this month to determine whether he's competent to stand trial.
Court documents show Michael R. Hoyt's hearing is set for April 29 in U.S. District Court in Cincinnati.
Hoyt was indicted in January and had been at a federal medical center in Massachusetts for mental evaluation and treatment. But his attorney says Hoyt is back in the Cincinnati area in federal custody. Defense attorney Martin Pinales (PIHN'-uh-lihs) declined to comment further.
A separate criminal complaint says Hoyt was fired last fall from a country club where Boehner is a member. Authorities say that Hoyt said he began hearing the devil's voice after he was fired, telling him that Boehner was "evil."
