ATMORE, Ala. (AP) — A man condemned for killing his daughter's 16-year-old boyfriend in rural south Alabama in 1987 has been executed.
Phillip Hallford was pronounced dead at 6:26 p.m. Thursday at Holman Prison. He had no final words before the injection began.
Hallford spoke softly to the chaplain and guards for a few minutes as the injection was administered and then quietly slipped away.
The 63-year-old Hallford forced his 15-year-old daughter to lure Eddie Shannon to an isolated area in Dale County. Hallford shot him three times and threw the body off a bridge.
His daughter also says he sexually abused her for years and has never admitted it.
According to trial testimony, Hallford was angry that his daughter was dating Shannon.
