The Trumpettes, a group of fans of President Donald Trump, will host a party on Jan. 18, 2018 to celebrate his first anniversary as president.

The Red, White, and Blue Celebration will be held in Mar-a-Lago's grand ballroom, said Trumpettes founder Toni Holt Kramer, The Palm Beach Post reports.

They began as a group of four wealthy women who, beginning in 2015, supported Trump's run for the presidency. Now, the group has thousands of supporters, according to The Post.

The idea for the party came about when Kramer saw that charities were moving their events away from Mar-a-Lago, which is owned by Trump, after his August comments on the racial violence in Charlottesville, Virginia, Kramer told The Post.

"I was so heartbroken about people leaving and why they had left. It's very difficult to understand why people would ever mix politics and charity. That is a huge mistake," she told the newspaper.

The event is not a fundraiser, she said, and ticket prices of $300 will go to paying for the event, with any leftover money going to The Palm Beach Police Foundation.

Mar-a-Lago is "my home," Kramer said, and rejected criticism of Trump.

"That he would even be subject to any ill will is beyond my comprehension," she told the newspaper.

Twenty-one charities have moved events away from Mar-a-Lago, according to The Palm Beach Daily News.
